Rosso, President of OTB, the holding group of Maison Martin Margiela, Marni, Viktor & Rolf, Diesel, Just Cavalli, Vivienne Westwood, and Marc Jacbos, saw overall sales grow ten percent last year to about USD$1.9 billion with more than USD$1billion attributed to Diesel. Formichetti, who had said that working with limited budgets at Mugler could be somewhat stifling should now see his desire for something “bigger” and “more global” satisfied.
Rosso, for his part, divulged via Skype to WWD, “I finally met somebody as crazy as I am.”
Expect a total overhaul of the brand from Formichetti, 35, who will be responsible for everything from product, to communications, to marketing, and interior design. “This is the right man to take the next step for a young company and a brand for people who are young of mind.” continued Rosso.
Formichetti shared with WWD that he is keen to expand the brand into categories ranging from “high fashion and couture to streetwear and activewear.”
