Breaking: Peter Copping to Leave Oscar de la Renta

Surprising news shakes the fashion industry today with Oscar de La Renta’s Peter Copping announcing that he will step down from his role as creative director at the New York-based fashion house due to personal circumstances. The British-born designer–who has yet to complete two years at his post–was personally handpicked by de la Renta as his successor shortly before his passing in October 2014. He was the first designer to continue de la Renta’s legacy at the family-owned company. Prior to his appointment, Copping was formerly the creative director of Nina Ricci for five years, and prior to that he served a 12-year stint at Louis Vuitton. Among the celebrities he has dressed on the red carpet during his short tenor includes, Sienna Miller, Diane Kruger,and Maggie Gyllenhaal. While his first bride was Saudi native Haifa Snobar, before dressing actress Allison Williams for her big day. Due to the startling news, no replacement has been named. However, speculations have already started swirling that Oscar de La Renta alums, Monse co-founders Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, are presumed to return to the company to take the creative role. Recently, the two designers joined Carolina Herrera as design consultants.
