Christian Louboutin has been a busy man. Right on the heels of launching the latest addition to his Beauté line, a collection of lipsticks incased in bullet pendants, he’s now expanding on his leather-goods with the introduction a new handbag design.
The Paloma, a structured leather tote with nude top handles and signature striking red side panels furthers Louboutin’s brand aesthetic. “It’s a bag that really comes from Paris,” Louboutin told WWD, “and is a bit more fierce.” Scheduled to hit boutiques early November, the Paloma is the first of new handbag models that will revamp the existing line of evening bags, first introduced in 2005. In addition to the Paloma, Louboutin will launch a new evening bag called the Piloutin—a cushion like bag adorned with spikes.
The designer currently has 105 boutiques and in-store boutiques around the world, with four more planned to open by the end of the month. Louboutin women’s shoes continue to lead the business, and accounts for 70%; men’s footwear brings in 20%; while beauty products, which he launched last year, currently generates 3% of revenues.
