We at Style.com/Arabia have been pouring over 13-year-old Talia’s makeup vlogs. Her innocence, earnestness, joy, and love and fascination with beauty products is catching, to say the least. There have been many debates about whether or not young girls should wear cosmetics, but a peek into this makeup artist’s world and it is evident that Talia’s thrill was the transformative nature of makeup, which she shared via social media to her 650,000 subscribers and 175,000 Facebook fans. One can only imagine that it offered a much-needed escape amidst the countless doctor appointments and medical treatments.
Talia, who suffered from two different types of cancer, was invited to appear on The Ellen Show, and when asked how she kept her spirits up, she answered: “A little fish once told me, just keep swimming.”
And swim she did. Collaborating with LA designer, Urbana, Talia created her own clothing line, “That Bald Chick” and was featured in the documentary The Truth 365, which advocates more resources for childhood cancer. She also appeared in an ad in People magazine for Covergirl cosmetics.
Yesterday morning, Talia succumbed to cancer. Despite ailing from two deadly forms of cancer, Talia never shied away from the truth. In between makeup tutorials, she would often share her health hurdles with her many fans through her vlogs.
Extending our heartfelt condolences to Talia’s family and friends at this time, we reflect on this beautiful spirit and invite our generous readers to make a donation in Talia’s name to her favorite charity, the Base Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation. Talia’s legacy is to create a base camp in every city, which has a children’s cancer hospital. Talia had raised USD$100,000 for a permanent home for the organization and a room filled with make-up will be dedicated to Talia.
