Karl Lagerfeld takes us for a ride on a time machine to a place of regal opulence. The above teaser campaign comes ahead of the Paris-Salzburg Métiers d’art collection to be shown in Salzburg, Austria to the fashion industry’s elite on December 2nd. The film features Cara Delevingne dressed in a regal ballgown opposite a uniformed Pharrell Williams. The singer and entertainer is a personal friend of the House and Karl Lagerfeld and apart from being the face of the upcoming Métiers d’art campaign (along with Delevingne), he also wrote the lyrics to “CC The World” and produced the soundtrack for “Reincarnation.”
As for the video’s plot, it centers around the history of one of the world’s most famous jackets. “It was time to show the origins of the Chanel jacket, inspired by the one worn by the lift attendant in a hotel near Salzburg in the 1950s (…) Reincarnation is the story of a lift attendant’s jacket being reincarnated as a timeless piece of women’s wear,” declared Lagerfeld.
