A Rundown of the 10th Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge

Despite less than favorable weather conditions on Saturday, the crème de la crème (or the bravest) of Dubai’s society flocked to the Desert Palm Resort & Polo Club to celebrate one of the most anticipated events of the season—the Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge.

Marking the beginning of the season’s social calendar, the prestigious sporting event, now in its 10th year, was held under the patronage and in the presence of HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, the wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The smartly dressed crowd (who hid their perfectly coiffed heads under Cartier panama hats while shielding themselves from the wind) were joined by distinguished guests HRH Prince Abbas bin Ali bin Nayef of Jordan and his wife, HRH Princess Sima Al Abbas; HRH Princess Yasmine Bint Asem bin Nayef; and the Marquess of Blandford, George Spencer-Churchill.

Taking a break from London Fashion Week, American socialite and street style favorite Olivia Palermo attended the event in an elegant cream top and polka-dot palazzo pants.

Not letting the sandstorm dampen their moods, the attendees celebrated the win of the Desert Palm team against the UAE Polo team while enjoying afternoon tea treats and visiting the Villa Cartier to view the new Clé de Cartier timepieces (available worldwide from April 2015).
