The 69th edition of the annual Cannes Film Festival kicked off to a glamorous start last night with A-listers taking to the red carpet for the premiere of Woody Allen’s Café Society. The movie follows a New Yorker (Jesse Eisenberg) on his journey to Hollywood, and explores the romantic issues that arise when he meets and falls in love with a woman played by Kristen Stewart.
Over the next ten days, celebrity heavyweights and film industry powerhouses will flock to the South of France to attend the festival. Eyes might be on the big screen, but the beautiful gowns and couture creations on the red carpet at the Palais des Festivals won’t be short of attention.
Our Middle Eastern designers have already opened the doors to their luxurious suites for A-listers to peruse their glorious collections, with Elie Saab and Georges Hobeika hosting temporary showroom suites at the iconic Hotel Martinez and Ingie Chalhoub’s Ingie Paris line at the Plage du Majestic on the Croisette. Meanwhile Zuhair Murad’s gowns have already made an appearance at Cannes and we’re also expecting to make an Ashi Studio sighting. Over the next ten days we’ll be tracking down the haute couture and ready-to-wear ensembles worn by models, actresses, and fashion icons, before deciding which Arab designer ruled the Cannes Film Festival 2016 red carpet.
