Calvin Klein Collection

Francisco Costa opened the Calvin Klein Collection Spring 2016 ready-to-wear show with a sleek offering but the sateen slip dresses in moonlit whites quickly morphed to showcase a wardrobe with a powerful punch, as detailed by the waistcoats, trousers, and slashed leather dresses. The collection then took on a darker tone as cherry blossoms were painted against midnight blacks; and finally, a solid nod to grunge with shredded dresses and separates.

Founder: Calvin Klein

Owner: Calvin Klein Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of PVH Corp. (an American clothing company)

Year Established: 1981

Designer: Francisco Costa, 2003

Spring 2016 Inspiration: The uptown girl goes grunge.

Star Pieces: The flower-print trench; the sateen blazers with arm slits; the sequin, black overcoat; and the extra long-sleeved, shredded sweater.

The Middle Eastern Sale: These clothes will help you look polished on days when you’re in a mood.

Drawbacks: Several of the looks featured a rope outlining of the bust that came across as awkward.
