The UAE-based label Bint Thani, founded by Emirati designer Khulood Thani has been confirmed to create an original fashion installation at the International Fashion Showcase (IFS) 2016 during the upcoming London Fashion Week. The Bint Thani installation will mark the first participation on behalf of an Emirati label at the annual event and to mark the occasion, the Dubai Design and Fashion Council will support the initiative. DDFC’s CEO Nez Gebreel commented, “Our endorsement of Bint Thani at the International Fashion Showcase represents our commitment to promoting and encouraging innovation in design.” This year, the annual IFS’ showcase will feature work by emerging designers from 24 countries, and indeed it aligns with DDFC’s mandate to nurture up-and-coming talent. “DDFC’s Khulood is a leading example of an Emirati designer who is making her mark internationally and we hope that there will be many more opportunities to collaborate with IFS to highlight other Emirati and regional designers,” added Gebreel.
The Bint Thani installation will represent the transformation of the Emirate of Dubai from desert to modern metropolis built with state-of-the-art architecture. Notably, Thani is an official ambassador of DDFC and is the first UAE national to hold a degree from the prestigious fashion school ESMOD Paris.
The International Fashion Showcase will be open to the public from February 19th—23rd.
