Earlier this year, the much-anticipated collection was released––sleek, sporty, super cool––but what we’ll remember is the way it all went down. First, the collaboration was announced to legions of Coachella fans in April. Next, Rihanna was spotted strutting down the sidewalk in leggings and a crop top from the collection. Third, Wang assembled a dream team of models including Joan Smalls and Isabeli Fontana for the ad campaign. As athleisure gained traction as a term and a trend, the Alex Wang x H&M collab could not have come at a better moment. Nicole Phelps wrote in her review of the collection: “If you haven’t got the point by now of Wang’s collaboration with the Swedish fast-fashion giant (it’d be hard not to, what with the full-court press PR campaign), we’ll spell it out. Hard. Core. Sport.”
