This year, Copenhagen Fashion Week celebrated its 10th anniversary with shows all over the capital. One of the more memorable events of the week took place at “The Jewellery Room,” the brainchild of Pernille Møbjerg Knudsen and Charlotte Møbjerg Ansel-Henry, who thought that Danish jewelry designers were so cool (and we agree) that they deserved their own Copenhagen Fashion Week platform. Style.com/Arabia first scouted The Jewellery Room in 2014 and was immediately drawn to the edgy and urban designs of Maria Black, the timeless techniques of Shamballa; the intelligent design of Vibe Harsløf, and warm curves of Sloan Sable jewelry.
Also drawn to the designers was May Barber, co-founder of the Dubai-based concept space The cARTel. “I really admired the design language that employs minimalism, craft, and geometry in an intelligent way. I think that the Danish school of design—whether jewelry or ready-to-wear—must be explored,” explained Barber, adding that the concept store also carries Anne Sofie Madsen and Henrik Vibskov RTW labels.
