While packing your swimwear, before jetting off for your summer sojourn, spare a thought for your back. Just as you cleanse and exfoliate your face, you should to do the same for your back and cleanse those sebaceous glands, which have gone into overdrive in the hot weather. Here’s how to keep yours looking flawless.

1. Your hair conditioner may be blocking your pores, cleanse your back last in your shower routine and when conditioning your hair lengths, pull them to one side so that no greasy film is left on the skin.

2. Start with an exfoliator and buff it briskly over your shoulders and down the base of your back. If you find areas hard to reach, you can opt for a loofah with a long handle to ensure that every inch is covered.

3. Ensure you shower quickly after a workout so that your pores can be flushed from any excess toxins.
A weekly sauna is also a good idea to help purge toxins from the skin.

4. If you are sunbathing on the beach, take the opportunity to go for a dip in the sea. Salt water is a natural way to draw out impurities from the skin.

5. Soak a cotton bud with tea tree oil and sweep this over problematic areas on your back just before bed. The anti-bacterial properties will help heal your skin and restore it to its former glory.

6. Opt for lightweight fabrics during the summer months to ensure that your skin can breathe.
