After establishing the Arab Woman Awards in the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait for the last five years, the ceremony will now take place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the first time.
The event, which aims to regroup and reward Saudi Arabia’s most successful women entrepreneurs and leading members of society, will host a ladies-only ceremony in January, at the Al Faisaliah Hotel in Riyadh.
Under the guidance of HRH Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, the awards are being hosted in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, Sayidaty, and the Zahra Breast Cancer Association. The winners will be selected by a board of judges, according to a general criteria, which presupposes that the nominee has made a notable contribution to her country within the past 12 months, in relation to her particular work field.
Earlier this month, the Arab Woman Awards 2013 were held in Abu Dhabi at the Rosewood Hotel. The top three winners included Muna Al Gurg (Business Woman of the Year), Bedour Al Raqbani (Education), and Sheikha Hoor Bint Sultan (Arts). Notably, Sheikha Madiyah Al Sharqi was named Fashion Designer of the Year.
Launched in 2009 by ITP, the Arab Woman Awards aim to raise public awareness of the significant achievements of Arab women. Since its inception, the awards have recognized over 170 accomplished women from various work sectors, including art, fashion, sport, media, literature, education, health, humanitarian activities, and entrepreneurship.
