“Tie me up, tie me down” could be the motto for Annelise Michelson’s latest jewelry collection. For Fall 2015, the ANDAM nominee started with the notion of bondage, mixed it with some punk and industrial references, and polished it up with her sense of Parisian finesse. The result is a series of delicately twisted earrings, rings, bracelets, and necklaces that wind around the body with a keen sensuality. “The rhythm of the loops and the curves makes each piece become one with your own body, like the rings or the cuff. It creates also playful associations of bondage knots, such as the ones seen with the choker and earrings, with an effect of infinite loops,” Michelson said of her gold and silver-plated pieces.
In the line’s lookbook, debuting exclusively here, the designer cast both male and female models to show off her creations. While the current vogue is for genderless and unisex items, Michelson feels that the notion of both a man and woman wearing her pieces is more than just trendy. “I have often been described as creating jewelry pieces that make women feel feminine and desirable. This campaign introduces the presence of a man in my very feminine world,” she noted, adding, “The pieces are, when seen by themselves, very neutral, and one could even say genderless, yet when worn, they look very sexy on a girl—and as well on a man.”
