Anna Wintour Sheds a Tear?

Anna Wintour, by all means, deserves all the credit she is given for her involvement in helping American designers, structuring the fashion market, bringing celebrity appeal to fashion, and many other great achievements—but she also deserves her reputation of ice queen as the Editor in Chief of American Vogue and Creative Director of Condé Nast. Wintour has never had a reputation for showing her emotions to anyone outside her inner circle. Until yesterday, that is.

During the inaugural ribbon cutting of the Metropolitan Museum’s new Anna Wintour Costume Center, First Lady, Michelle Obama, was on hand to do the honors and began her speech by stating: “I am here today because of Anna, because I have so much admiration and respect for this woman who I am proud to call my friend.” While Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Donatella Versace, the Olsen Twins, and Sarah Jessica Parker, among many other celebrities, rose to give the First Lady of Fashion and her political counterpart a standing ovation, Anna Wintour shed a tear.
