Alexander McQueen

Creative director Sarah Burton took a romantic approach for the Alexander McQueen Spring 2016 ready-to-wear offering. The collection was ultra feminine and ethereal with long silhouettes featuring dramatic frayed silk, tiered ruffles, and a larger than life dove motif blended into lace gowns, pretty rose-print dresses, and elaborate embroidered denim. Some looks were styled with fitted military jackets, boho mirrored coats, and silver body chains.

Founder: Alexander McQueen

Owner: Kering

Designer: Sarah Burton, 2010

Year Established: 1992

Spring 2016 Inspiration: A historic reference to the Huguenot settlers in Spitalfields, London who fled France in the 17th century and specialized in silk weaving.

Star Pieces: A long eggshell, floral dress with a plunging V-neck and ruffles; a blush pink, sheer dress combined with a floral embroidered leather jacket with delicate budding ruffles; those razor-sharp red military jackets; and a decorative gown featuring frayed silk, feathers, and lace.

The Middle Eastern Sale: The collection is very wearable; the elaborate gowns and feminine frocks will make a great choice for a summer evening soirée or a wedding celebration.
