Elie Saab’s New Bag Line

image002

Inspired by his own headquarters in Paris on Avenue Raymond Poincaré (16th arrondissement), Elie Saab designed a new range of five leather handbags that are named after the location of his design studios and will hit stores mid-July.

The new line features both mono and tricolor handbags (merlot red, forest green, and black) and is characterized by its sharp take on decorative lines as well as its boxy shape. Striking pieces within the collection include a jewelry-inspired minaudière clutch and a trapeze-shaped, quilted leather handbag which features matte metal clasps and a horizontal sliding closing mechanism. The Poincaré collection further includes an envelope and a box clutch model. The latter opens via an innovative hidden mechanism––there is no visible closure, and a slight pressure on the bag is enough to open and close it.
