As a former Angeleno, perhaps there was no better place than Beverly Hills for Victoria Beckham to launch her new partnership with Barneys. “This will always be my home,” the designer said from the recently renovated rooftop of Freds last night, where the crowd included Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Beckinsale, Elizabeth Stewart, and Christopher Bailey, in town for his big Burberry event this Thursday. Over dinner, Barneys’ Daniella Vitale candidly shared that after initially declining Beckham’s collection years ago, the designer turned down Barneys’ subsequent requests several times over. No ill will lingers. “I’m just scratching the surface here in the U.S.,” Beckham said. “It’s a very important market for me, as it’s my fastest-growing market.”
While the designer took her time to greet each guest, her husband, David, spoke intently with James Corden, whose attendance was perhaps a bit of research and prep before his turn hosting the CFDA Awards in early June. For her part, Rose Byrne lauded Beckham’s tailoring, fabrications, and unapologetic appreciation of the female form. “The brand is just so chic and so incredibly well made,” the actress said, with stylist Penny Lovell by her side.
