Tousled, salt-infused hair from spending a day at the beach carry an effortlessly chic appeal but unless you have the sea at your disposal, the waves are anything but effortless to create. Here, we break down the process for creating simple, beachy waves—plus, the products you need to achieve the fresh-from-the-beach look.
1. Work a small amount of the Sachajuan Ocean Mist Spray (US $28; AED/SAR 103) on damp hair, then blow-dry with a round brush.
2. Once your hair is dry, divide it into two parts.
3. Using a one-inch curling wand, wrap a section of the hair around the barrel, beginning from the root and let the last two inches of hair hang free.
4. Repeat over the entire head.
5. Using a flat iron in the lowest heat setting, lightly go over the curls to soften them. Create “bends” in the hair by running the flat iron down random sections, briefly twisting it.
6. After the curls cool, use a wide-tooth comb to brush them out into waves.
7. Finger comb your hair and apply the Redken Wind Blown texturizing spray (US $22; AED/SAR 81) for added texture. Twist the ends of your hair for a “piecey” look.
8. Create a deep center part and pin the front of your hair back using bobby pins.
9. Finish with the Kérastase Laque Couture hairspray (US $37; AED/SAR 136) to smooth flyaway hair and set the look.
