With its ability to revitalize flat hair and extend the life of a blowout, dry shampoo is a handbag must-have for active women everywhere. Dry shampoos—transformative aerosols, powders, and foams—temporarily soak up oil, mattify strands, and add texture to limp lengths. While dry shampoo is not to be used as a substitute for your weekly shampoo, condition, and rinse cycle (it can dull colored strands and even alter your hair’s natural shedding process if used too frequently), there is no doubt that dry shampoo can offer a quick beauty fix when time is of the essence.
Abu Dhabi’s award-winning Toni&Guy hair salon’s Amy K offered her tips for a flawless application. “Spray the formula about 15 cm away from your scalp and give it a couple of minutes to absorb oil at the roots. Next, create volume and texture by massaging the dry shampoo into your scalp with your fingers,” she explained. “Use a natural boar bristle brush to help distribute any remaining bits,” she concluded.
If you’re overwhelmed by the plethora of new bottles hitting shelves, look to our edit of best dry shampoos for five approved formulas.
