House of Nomad

The House of Nomad designers have been making a name for themselves in the region for the past three seasons after the launch of their silk jersey and neoprene “athleisure” wear emblazoned with “Dubai” or “Nomad” in Arabic. Last season, their offer broadened with sculptural skirts, varsity jackets, and a whole “cool kid” vibe inspired by the boxing world. Yet this season is the first time Ahmed El-Sayed, a BFA graduate in Fashion Design from Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, and Saleh Al-Banna, who graduated in Graphic Design at the American University in Dubai, presented a full-fledged ready-to-wear collection. In the process, they showed that there is more to them than just their comfortable fabrics.

After a school bell rang, out walked House of Nomad’s alumni in cropped tops, gray wool skirts, neoprene and wool coats, and thigh-high wool socks. The palette was clean with gray, white, and navy blue, and the styling admittedly the best of Fashion Forward, with some decidedly cool pieces tailored to a T. The trick worked. Stand-outs included monochromatic looks in tweed for him and her, featuring palazzo pants and beautifully draped skirts. House of Nomad’s school is in session, and it looks to be well-attended this season.
