Industry VIPs Celebrate Groundbreaking Inaugural Style.com/Arabia – DDFC Fashion Prize

Last night, fashion luminaries, industry VIPs, and socialites gathered at the One & Only Royal Mirage in Dubai to celebrate the groundbreaking inaugural Style.com/Arabia – DDFC Fashion Prize. The lavish soirée unfolded with guests mingling under the stars in the open-air courtyard adjacent to the gala dinner venue. Spirits ran high among the well-dressed crowd, which included designers Reem Acra and Zuhair Murad; Patrick and Ingie Chalhoub; Mohammed Al Habtoor; Farfetch CEO José Neves and his wife ASAP 54 founder Daniela Cecilio; chief marketing officer Stephanie Horton; and founder of D’NA boutique Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz.

En route to the gala venue, guests stopped to admire the Fashion Prize finalists’ capsule collections that lined the way. As the attendees settled into their seats inside the ballroom, amid a striking interior featuring Moorish arches, Style.com/Arabia Editor-in-Chief Sofia Guellaty kicked off the celebrations with her opening speech and highlighted the importance of recognizing the region’s emerging talents. To the sounds of an acoustic guitar, guests dined on a delicious three-course menu that featured an appetizer of smoked and rillette salmon, followed by grilled beef tenderloin served with agria fondant potato, confit shallots, and black forest mushroom.

As servings of chocolate mousse arrived at the elegantly arranged tables, Style.com/Arabia CEO and Publisher, Shashi Menon, took to the stage and noted the importance of initiating the Fashion Prize and thanked partners DDFC, Farfetch, Havas, Wojooh, Cadillac, and Brag. Following this, Hind Matar of Matar was declared the winner of the Cadillac Design Challenge.

As guests buzzed with excitement in anticipation of the announcement of the Fashion Prize winner, Sofia Guellaty revealed Hussein Bazaza to be the designer behind the winning collection. Overwhelmed, the designer was lost for words as he accepted his trophy to roaring applause. Following the dinner, the celebrations continued as guests let their hair down and took to the dance floor at the after-party held at Kasbar, and celebrated the inaugural edition of the groundbreaking Style.com/Arabia – DDFC Fashion Prize until the early hours.
