Kristina Fidelskaya launched her Dubai-based, made-in-Italy brand of contemporary womenswear in 2014 with a mission to provide the working woman with versatile, tailored pieces that won’t compromise her femininity. Prior to launching her brand, Fidelskaya studied at Dubai’s Esmod Fashion Institute.
For her Fall 2016 collection, titled Seguici (“follow us” in Italian), Fidelskaya showcased a lineup of fit and flared coats, bow-adorned shifts, coordinating separates, and body-hugging silhouettes. The clothes came in wool, cashmere, and silk combinations that were all produced in a bland color palette that fell flat. She scored points, however, on her transitional pieces that will take women from the office to a dinner party, yet the overall offering lacked attitude. If Fidelskaya wants to ultimately capture the attention of women in the region to follow her creations, she needs to up the ante with a design proposition that demands the spotlight.
