A Scenic Italian Island Wedding: Erica Pelosini and Louis Leeman

Nine years after Dutch-born Louis Leeman (of Louis Leeman shoes) met the lithe contributing fashion editor (Vogue Japan, Harper’s Bazaar) Erica Pelosini in her hometown of Florence, Italy, the two tied the knot this month on the mystical island of Capri—the ideal location for the couple to reunite their fashionable friends from all around the world.

Welcoming her guests, which included the likes of Cameron Silver, Brian Atwood, Mary Katrantzou, Alberto Oliveros, Daniele Cavalli, Olivia Palermo, and Magdalena Frackowiak, as they convened on the terrace of the JK Place Hotel, Pelosini (in a Peter Dundas Pucci dress and Casadei shoes) then led them down the cobblestoned streets of Capri to the iconic Da Paolina restaurant for dinner under a cocoon of lemon trees. The following day, the bridesmaids soaked up the sun during a picnic garden lunch—all donning Mary Katrantzou dresses and Aquazzura shoes, while Pelosini wore personalized Oscar Tiye heels.

Pelosini’s bridal dress was also designed by Dundas. “It was an amazing experience going to the Palazzo Pucci and having Peter design the dress for me. I always knew that I wanted something traditional but reinterpreted for an island wedding in a forest with a carpet strewn with daisies,” she explained. “We started with sleeves and lace, but while trying the dress at the Palazzo, Peter ended up cutting them off, saying it was not me and that I needed something more rock-and-roll, more bohemian—just what I was thinking!”

Louis Leeman concurs, and commented further: “When Erica entered, accompanied by the music ‘Walk of Love’ from the Rolling Stones and played by our French pianist, I thought, ‘This is the perfect Erica wedding dress.’”

Wedding planner Diana Sorensen for Sugokuii Events Capri managed to pull off the three days of nuptial celebrations without a hitch, but there was at least one thing she couldn’t have planned for. “During the ceremony, the priest referred to Louis by his second name: Martin. I couldn’t stop laughing so we had to stop him before I was going to marry a Martin!” remarked Pelosini, smiling.
