Exclusive: Watch Peter Copping Make His First Oscar de la Renta Collection

When a simple black coat with jet crystal trim over a white turtleneck opened the show, followed by striped skirt suiting, jewel-tone cocktail attire, and, of course, floral patterns abstracted for evening, it became clear that Peter Copping had settled into the role of creative director at Oscar de la Renta and was approaching the behemoth task of helming the late designer’s house with an equal mix of reverence and experimentalism. Handpicked by De la Renta before his death with the intention of the pair working side by side, Copping assumed sole responsibility of the house with just three months to prepare a Fall 2015 collection.

The exclusive video above gives an unprecedented look into the Oscar de la Renta atelier and details exactly how Copping’s debut collection came to be. From sketches to fittings to interviews with the seamstresses who worked on the line, the short film sheds light on Copping’s processes as creative director. Watch the film by Fabien Constant above for a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the new Oscar de la Renta.
