John Galliano makes his Maison Martin Margiela debut in London tomorrow. Triumph or travesty (we’re hoping for the former), it will go down as one of the biggest fashion moments of 2015. The news that Renzo Rosso gave the MMM job to Galliano, who was fired from Dior in 2011 after making anti-Semitic slurs, certainly qualifies as one of the most-talked-about industry stories of 2014. Is Galliano the right fit for Margiela was the question when the announcement was made. Now it’s: Will Galliano return to the theatrics we all remember from his days at Dior? Will he do a deep dive into the Margiela archives? Or will he surprise us and try something completely low-key? Whatever happens, we’ll be glued to our computers from 11:30 a.m. EST tomorrow, when our instant coverage of the Haute Couture show begins. Look out for Tim Blanks’ firsthand take on the collection not long after. In the meantime, check out this slideshow of Dior, Galliano, and Margiela collections from seasons gone by. The synergies may surprise you. They certainly did us.
