This Saudi Mother and Daughter Duo is Making Jeans Couture

Embellished jeans are sneaking their way back into our closets. Tapping into the statement denim trend is Jeans Couture, a new Saudi brand founded by mother and daughter designers Suzan Farhoud and Leen Al-Shieshakly. The label’s aesthetic blends the essential wardrobe staple with ethnic embellishments and embroidered details, and Style.com/Arabia brings you a first look at Synergy, the brand’s Fall 2016 collection.

Farhoud—who is of Saudi and German decent—explained that the inspiration behind the line stems from the creative director’s mixed ethnicity, which translates to a touch of oriental flavor combined with contemporary denim silhouettes. Discussing how the brand was conceived, Leen Al-Shieshakly said, “We started embellishing denim pieces with antiques that she [Farhoud] collected for a jacket, and the idea just exploded from there.”

Amid the offering is outerwear decorated with metallic denim patchwork details, and denim jackets elevated with beaded motifs and billowing, cape-like embroidered materials. The collection also plays with velvet, floral appliqués, and coin charms, all of which can be found across denim separates and silhouettes. Meanwhile, a handkerchief-cut, denim skirt designed with intricate beadwork and floral embroidery makes for a hero piece. Looking to elevate your denim collection?
