Sure, fit, style, and quality are important for a swimwear brand’s success, but nothing boosts sales like a world-famous bombshell wearing your suits. For Australian-based label Seafolly, that buzzy babe is model-of-the-moment Gigi Hadid, who is the new face of the brand. Images from her first campaign debut exclusively here.

“I met a few people from Seafolly when I was in Australia for the Melbourne Cup horse race,” she told Style.com. “We had a little fitting, and then I met them in Tulum for the shoot, which was so beautiful. It was my first time there.” The collection is graphic and sporty—i.e., zero string bikinis in sight—and includes triangle tops, maillots, rash guards, and high-neck tanks. Contrary to typical swimsuit ads with models in cheesy, sexed-up poses, Hadid splashes through the surf, snaps photos, and walks along the shore. These suits are for the active, adventurous girl who can’t waste energy worrying about her top falling off in the waves. “A few styles are neoprene, so they kind of feel like wet suits,” Hadid said. “It’s actually really nice in a swimsuit. It supports better. There’s this cropped shirt that zips up the front and I felt like a Bond Girl in it,” she added. “And this high-neck tank has a really cool black-and-white pattern that looks great with a tan.”

On the subject of sunbathing, the born-and-bred California girl isn’t afraid to admit she likes to soak up some rays. “I’m really good about [protecting] my face, and I try not to get burnt anywhere,” she said. “But I also have to think about tan lines, especially if I’m doing a shoot,” she said. “In high school, it was cool to have a good tan line. I used to put a heart sticker on my stomach to make it lighter. But now I usually just go for a simple bikini cut.” With swimsuit season on the horizon, Hadid’s top tip was finding the right fit for your body type. ”But the most important thing is finding what makes you feel confident.” We imagine a bodacious bod would certainly help, but Seafolly’s slimming suits are a safe bet for anyone hitting the beach before the Fall ’15 shows kick off next week.
