Exclusive: Eddie Redmayne Talks “Real Housewives,” Married Life, and More With Jennifer Lawrence

With a brand-new Golden Globe to his name, Eddie Redmayne is already shaping up to be the breakout star of the 2015 awards season. It’s only fitting, then, that the Theory of Everything actor not only covers the February issue of Interview magazine (out tomorrow), but his interview is conducted by last year’s biggest award winner, Jennifer Lawrence. Get an exclusive sneak peek at the duo’s chat, below, in which they cover everything from Stephen Hawking to eating habits. Plus, preview images from Redmayne’s shoot for the issue lensed by Craig McDean.

ON REALITY TV:

“I come home from trying to pretend to know about astronomy and physics all day and turn on The Real Housewives.”

ON FEAR:

“I’m just one gigantic ball of rancid fear and self-consciousness. I’m entirely fueled by fear.”

ON STEPHEN HAWKING:

“Stephen is just effortlessly cool. He has this kind of shambolic confidence to him.”

ON TIME OFF:

“What do I do? I don’t know. I’m really shit at the piano. I play the piano. I occasionally try to pretend to paint—again, badly. But this is the great luxury of not working: The moment you read a book that has nothing to do with work, you know you’re really relaxed.”

ON WORKING IN THE INDUSTRY:

“You do that thing of trying to chase down the job, sounding incredibly confident because you never think you’ll get it. And then you get offered the job and you have a moment of euphoria, and then you basically want to be sick for the first year.”

ON EATING HABITS:

“My [then] fiancée saw some photos of me at the L.A. premiere, and she’s like, ‘Ed, you’re looking underweight.’ I said, ‘Baby, I’ve got loads of sushi and juices.’ And she was like, ‘That’s not what I’m talking about! I’m talking a gigantic bowl of spaghetti Bolognese and a burger.’”
