Brushstroke patterns and paint splatter prints emerged in droves this summer. Case in point: The breezy dresses from Under Our Sky. Designed by New York-based Argentine Sofía Sanchez de Betak, the loose-fit dresses and asymmetrical silhouettes feature abstract prints, paint speckle motifs, and colorful illustrations.
During a trip to Majorca, the designer and creative director came across Spanish artist Letita Aragon. Before long, de Betak had commissioned the painter to draw on a billowy tunic as a keepsake. In an interview with Vogue, de Betak described how the dress in question ignited the inception of her line. “At the beginning I thought it was too big, it’s not flattering, but then I wore it the entire summer, nonstop!” she exclaimed.
Together, de Betak and Aragon dreamed up a covetable collection of hand-painted dresses where no two prints are the same. Evoking a bohemian aesthetic, the must-have dresses make for effortless wardrobe staples.
