Milan Fashion Week is over, but these DDFC/Vogue Fashion Prize finalists aren’t quite ready to say goodbye (to their favorite looks, that is). Ready-to-wear designer Daneh Buahmad, along with accessories designers Farah Nasri and Ralph Masri, reveal their hero pieces from the third stop of Fashion Month.

“Milan Fashion Week always had a reputation for being about mega brands, and I must say, they delivered big. I wanted everything: the gowns from Roberto Cavalli; the belted dresses from Alberta Ferretti; the structured looks at Marni; and everything in the Bottega Veneta collection. Choosing one look was a tough decision. However, I kept going back to one by Fendi. The cropped top teamed with the apron skirt and pants was something else. There were many versions, but this was my favorite. The contrast in styles, fabrics, colors, and prints was just perfect.”

“The larger-than life-Elizabeth Taylor-esque necklaces at Prada’s Spring 2017 show caught my eye this season. This piece in particular felt very much like Bulgari’s Sautoir Medallion (it was designed with sapphires, diamonds, and platinum in 1969, and purchased in 1972 by Richard Burton for Taylor’s 40th birthday). Yet, [Prada] was less Art Deco and more contemporary. The blue and red resin of the chain felt young, and the pendant’s leopard print was very Italian. To soften the geometrical restrictions of the outfit, rubber logo labels and blue boudoir feathers were added by Miuccia Prada, and offered playfulness to a rather business-like look.”

“The Moschino Spring 2017 collection show was all about trompe l’œil, and I love what it did with the jewelry. Reflecting the paper doll theme of the overall collection, accessories took the shape of printed, cut-out, paper jewelry that featured vivid images of precious gemstones. The results were fun and kitschy additions that complemented—and completed—the outfits, and added that funky Jeremy Scott touch to the looks. Jewelry doesn’t always have to be so serious. At the end of the day, a catwalk show is all about creating an intriguing visual spectacle, and Moschino did just that. This particular look is my favorite. The model wore oversized earrings and rings that featured giant rubies, which complemented the color palette and added a strong, vibrant touch to the look.”
