Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week has got us thinking about bloomers. They have, indeed, come a long way since the Victorian era when they were baggy pants that tapered to a cuff at the ankles and worn under a skirt—intended to protect a lady’s modesty. Bloomers were plenty on display at Ulyana Sergeenko’s storybook show yesterday and they do appear to be the more couture-like underwear of choice to don underneath a billowing organza ball gown. To avoid feeling like you raided granny’s closet, opt for a floaty, chiffon pair in a neutral color with black accents.
