Whether you like it or not, 2014 is the year of the mule. It’s funny how just two seasons ago, no one would have ever been caught dead (aside from Anna Wintour and other Manolo Blahnik and Prada avant-gardists) with mules. Sometimes, however, fashion trends are far more powerful than you. They will somehow insinuate into your daily landscape and make you change your mind about the appeal of that furry pair of Birkenstocks. For our part, we were always in favor of the mule (OK, maybe not…), and today we cannot overlook the amount of backless numbers spreading on the runways and at our favorite stores—beautiful ones, of course. Here’s one such example from Aperlai, a trot ahead of the last generation’s mules.
