You’re probably familiar with the “100 Layers” challenge currently sweeping social media, but if you’re not, allow us to brief you. The outrageous viral trend began when a number of beauty vloggers took to their social media accounts to slather on 100 layers of foundation, liquid lipstick, mascara, nail polish, and an array of other beauty products. One YouTuber spent over seven hours (yes, you read that correctly) applying 100 coats of foundation, spray tan, hairspray, liquid lipstick, glitter polish, and false eyelashes. The end result is bizarre, but oh-so fascinating.
Inspired by the outrageous beauty trend, one hijabi fashion and beauty blogger decided to add her own twist to the challenge. Dina Torkia (who goes by Dina Tokio on social media) decided to share an entertaining video with her 414k subscribers on YouTube. However, rather than using makeup, the social media sensation decided to don 100 layers of scarves. “Who wants to waste 100 layers of their makeup?” she asks at the beginning of the video. “Not me. So I thought it was the perfect opportunity for me to do 100 layers of—you guessed it—scarves,” she says before starting the challenge.
By scarf number two, the Egyptian beauty maven claims that she is already unable to breathe. At the halfway point, her husband has to take the reigns as she’s unable to move her arms beneath the towering mountain of fabric. “If you thought one scarf was hot, imagine 61,” she jokes before her husband wraps a beige veil over her head. By the end of the video, which is packed with hilarious commentary, the 27-year-old looks absolutely comical. Watch it for yourself here.
