Celebrating Saudi’s Yanbu Flower and Garden Festival in Floral Fashion

Every year in February, the coastal city of Yanbu in Saudi Arabia plays host to millions of flowers in celebration of the Yanbu Flower and Garden Festival. In its 10th year running, the extraordinary spectacle that takes place at the Events Garden features a sea of floral arrangements and landscape designs in vivid colors and pastel shades that surround the main attraction—a larger-than-life flower carpet at the heart of the festival. Since the open-air floral exhibition’s inception, thousands of visitors head to the Red Sea waterfront city that’s blanketed with a fragrant scent to admire nature’s own beauty.

To celebrate the blooming festival that starts today, we have rounded-up nineteen ways flowers have played a role in fashion. From elaborate runway sets in full bloom from Dior and Oscar de la Renta, and ultra-feminine designer collections traced with 3D-floral embroideries courtesy of Giambattista Valli and Erdem, to flower power embellished accessories and whimsical hairstyles tucked in place with charming rosettes. In the slides ahead, everything is coming up roses.
