Before Violet Grey became an online and freestanding beauty empire, it was an underground hot spot for A-listers and their entourages to nail down their red-carpet looks. Paying homage to the history of the space, famed costume designer Edith Head (whose sketches are scattered throughout the store on Melrose Place), and last night’s Emmy Awards is none other than Donald Robertson (aka @donalddrawbertson), the in-demand Instagram illustrator and second artist in residence for VG.
