Tie-dye is back. The tinting technique that first made waves in the ‘70s, and saw a revival in the ‘90s, has returned for 2016 with an array of street style stars rocking the psychedelic pattern. Model of the moment Gigi Hadid gave her off-duty look a hippie twist with a distressed, rainbow tie-dye T-shirt that featured a grinning sun motif paired with frayed, denim shorts. Elsewhere, Rihanna conveyed ‘90s grunge with a swirling Nine Inch Nails band tee. The singer elevated her throwback look with a fur stole, skinny jeans, and pointed-toe, denim boots from her Manolo Blahnik shoe collaboration collection. Lebanese jewelry designer Noor Fares emanated boho vibes in a loose, pink tee that featured the funky print. However, leave it to fashion blogger Leandra Medine of the Man Repeller to put an evening spin on the retro trend by opting for a green, pleated dress signed Altuzarra. Meanwhile, a number of designers including Valentino, Roberto Cavalli, and Rosie Assoulin infused their Spring 2016 collections with pastel-hued swirls and saturated bursts of color. Shop our curated edit in the slides below to ace the tie-dye fashion trend like a perennial street style star.
