Metallic Mania on the Manus X Machina 2016 Met Gala Red Carpet

The future of fashion arrived on the 2016 Met Gala red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday night. A-listers, models, designers, fashion icons, and one Arab royal all came together to attend the “Manus X Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” themed exhibition benefit.

On the red carpet, celebrities embraced the white-tie-meets-technology dress code through metallic dresses, sequined silhouettes, and cut-out frocks, while Claire Danes lit up the night in an innovative LED ball gown courtesy of Zac Posen.

Brie Larson was among the best-dressed women at the fashion extravaganza, and took to the red carpet in a custom Proenza Schouler number. Emma Watson made a case for sustainable fashion via Calvin Klein Collection, and Karlie Kloss arrived in a seductive, white cut-out gown signed Brandon Maxwell. All eyes were on Nicole Kidman, however, who showed up in a celestial dress dreamed up by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Meanwhile, Middle Eastern designers Zuhair Murad and Nicolas Jebran opted for hand-embroidered and crystal-embellished couture gowns to dress model Hannah Davis and TV personality La La Anthony respectively.
