Sleek and Standout Looks From the 2016 Grammy Awards Red Carpet

While New York Fashion Week is in full swing, over on the West Coast, music celebrated its biggest night. The 58th annual Grammy Awards, which took place in Los Angeles, saw Taylor Swift take home the award for Album of the Year, making her the first female to nab the honor twice. Meanwhile, “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars won record of the year and Kendrick Lamar made a clean sweep in the rap category. The music awards show also saw Meaghan Trainor win Best New Artist, Ed Sheeran nab Best Song, and Justin Bieber won his first Grammy for his single “Where Are U Now” with Skrillex and Diplo.

On the main stage, Taylor Swift kicked off the show with a performance of her latest single “Out of the Woods” and Lady Gaga paid tribute to the late David Bowie through a multisensory segment that involved digital graphics, holography, and striking visuals. Although, Adele’s performance lacked luster due to technical sound glitches, she made up for it on the red carpet in a black long-sleeved embellished gown by Givenchy.

The Grammy Awards is notorious for bring out eyebrow-raising sartorial styles. But this year, celebrities arrived in elegant attire as if they were warming up to the Oscars. Bella Hadid took a detour from NYFW to arrive on the red carpet arm-in-arm with The Weeknd in a plunging Alexandre Vauthier couture dress. Taylor Swift opted for a midriff bearing magenta and tangerine number by Atelier Versace; Chrissy Teigen showed off her baby bump in a white Yousef Aljasmi cape dress; and Selena Gomez glittered in Calvin Klein Collection.

Meanwhile, Gaga turned heads in a blue embellished coat dress by Marc Jacobs paired with severe platform heels. If the singer stood out for fully embracing her Ziggy Stardust tribute, her ensemble was rather tame compared to outfits of Grammys past.
