Spring 2016 Trend Report: Level Shoe District’s Buyer’s Guide
TRENDS FOR SPRING 2016
Metallics The footwear on the runway was [once again] all about standing out this spring. The metallic trend was front and center at Alexandre Birman, Dries Van Noten, Aperlai, and Gianvito Rossi, which added shine to silhouettes in the form of metallic trainers, sparkling sandals, and lustrous pumps.
TRENDS FOR SPRING 2016
Flats Perfect for both your on and off-duty style, flats continue to dominate the runway. We’ve seen them in almost every collection—in the form of slides, babouches, and gladiators. Overall, the slide has transpired the most, with designers taking this style to another level as seen at Rochas and Gianvito Rossi. We are also particularly in love with the It shoe for spring—the babouche. This traditional North African style got a high-fashion makeover this season by the likes of standout new designer Serena Uziyel for Sanayi 313.
TRENDS FOR SPRING 2016
Block Heel It’s official: the block heel has dethroned the stiletto. Chunky heels are one of the biggest comeback styles of the season and represent a throwback to the bohemian vibes of the ‘70s. We see embellished blocked sandals by Rochas to suede covered blocked heels in taupe from Gianvito Rossi. Meanwhile, Laurence Dacade transformed her iconic cutout chunky sandal into a hippie-chic style.
TRENDS FOR SPRING 2016
Platform Wedges Platform wedges are a key silhouette this season with the likes of designer brands Sergio Rossi, Nicholas Kirkwood, and Chloé presenting creations in floral motifs, colorful straps, and nautical stripes. All these renditions of the platform wedge pay homage to the bohemian feels of the ‘60s and ‘70s.

COLORS TO KEEP AN EYE ON

A KEY BUY FOR THE MIDDLE EAST
The slide. We are thrilled to see this trend embraced season after season—it is a key style for local clientele.

RISKY BET
Brother Vellies newcomer and CFDA Award-winning designer Aurora James really outdid herself with this “post-hippy minimalist” themed collection.
