30-year-old Australian beauty Stephanie Mulet is a part-time yoga teacher and founder of Tranquility Yoga Dubai. She’s a certified Vinyasa yoga instructor and teaches private and small group classes.
Stephanie’s approach to yoga does not only revolve around the physical poses. She also believes that via yoga practice, one is able to focus inward, and by turning within, one can begin to observe and let go of the mind, free oneself from attachments and judgments, and achieve tranquility.
When Stephanie teaches her yoga students, she focuses on the poses that help to open many channels of the body so that energy can flow freely. For Stephanie, “Yoga is a path to creating balance in our physical bodies. We develop a balance of strength and flexibility, while learning how to balance our effort and surrender in each pose.”
DANNIELLE BLAKER: What tops the list as your favorite workout right now?
STEPHANIE MULET: I teach Vinyasa yoga and this is my favorite workout. I also enjoy HIIT (high intensity interval training), as it’s an excellent cardio workout. The idea is to push yourself to your limit through quick, intense bursts of exercise with short recovery periods in between. Your heart rate is high throughout and you burn a lot of calories.
What fitness activity are you dying to try?
Pole dancing. It looks like a fun workout and it is great for strength and flexibility.
Who is your fitness guru?
My fitness guru is my yoga teacher Kino MacGregor. She has over 15 years of experience with Ashtanga yoga and is one of a few who are certified by founder Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India to teach it.
What is your prized piece of workout gear?
I love the California-based yoga brand Teeki. It has so many bright and colorful designs.
Favorite workout spots?
Body Language Gym in Al Barari and Corefit in Dubai Marina.
Where do you go in Dubai for healthy food?
The Farm at Al Barari. The menu is full of fresh, quality ingredients with a great selection of gluten-free options. You can create your own custom dishes with the selection of ingredients. It’s perfect for people who have food intolerances.
Most successful diet?
Cutting out refined sugar and processed foods. This is something I try to maintain daily. It’s become a part of my lifestyle.
Least successful diet:
The cabbage soup diet. I wouldn’t recommend that anyone try this. Eating only one thing for a week is never a good idea.
Is there a supplement that you cannot live without?
Zinc and magnesium. I take zinc as it’s said to be an important essential trace metal in nutrition, works with proteins in your organs, and helps various enzymes with different processes like digestion.
Magnesium helps with body detoxification, as well as the proper function of nerves. The two work well together.
Who is your health guru?
For mental health, I turn to Eckhart Tolle. I love his books The Power of Now and A New Earth.
What is your cheat food?
Pizza.
