Say Goodbye to Unwanted Body Hair for Good

Having to be beach-ready at a moment’s notice requires perpetual grooming. I don’t know about you but I am frankly sick of going for a wax, then heading to the threading parlor and tweezing stray hairs in between. I wonder how much time and money I’ve spent only to have to repeat the exercise all too often.

Laser is the modern-day solution to the unwanted hair debate and the thought of never having to wax again makes me whoop for joy. That said, I tried laser hair removal a couple of years ago and found it so excruciating that even in the name of beauty, I could only endure two of the five required sessions for permanent results.

Enter the Soprano XL laser.

When Aesthetica Clinic in Dubai told me of its new Soprano XL “pain-free” laser, I was intrigued. This laser is designed to treat all skin types and target hair right at the follicle. The therapist assured me that with light skin and dark hair, the laser would be able to target my hair and I would not even feel a thing. She was right: I didn’t feel even a pinch as she ran the laser head over my limbs. Please note that darker skin types may slightly feel more warmth as the laser works to target the hair. In the hour-long session, we managed to cover my arms, legs, and bikini line and the entire process was pain-free.

Some important points to note:

How does the laser work?

Highly concentrated light is beamed into the hair follicles, during which time the pigment of the hair absorbs the light and destroys the hair.

Which parts of the body can be treated?

Legs, arms, underarms, face, bikini, back—everywhere you have unwanted hair.

What do I need to do before my first session?

No plucking or waxing hair for six weeks prior to your treatment. Before your laser treatment, you are only allowed to shave the area. Do not expose the treated area to the sun or UV light for a few days after the treatment and always use an SPF.

How long does the treatment take?

The laser targets several hairs at one time, so small areas can take minutes. For larger areas, you may need an hour-long session.

How many treatments will I need?

Usually within three to five sessions, you will see permanent results. There should be at least a one-month gap between each treatment.

The result:

In the days that followed my laser treatment, the hair just shed away and even after one treatment, I can see a noticeable difference in both the thickness and regrowth of the hair—it is minimal. I will be going back to finish the required number of sessions this time and cannot wait to get rid of my unwanted hair for good.
