This International Women’s Day, at the region’s first women’s only Nike store (in Dubai), a group of dynamic female athletes, led by Omani tennis player Fatma Al Nabhani, shared their inspirational journeys and success stories. Al Nabhani, the only professional tennis player from the region, recorded one of the biggest wins of her career earlier this year when she advanced to the second round of the Dubai Tennis Championships in the UAE.

During the event, Nike debuted a short film directed by British filmmaker Poppy De Villeneuve which documents the 23-year-old athlete’s journey. Al Nahbani trains up to six hours a day and encourages women from this region to incorporate fitness into their everyday routine.

“The choices and access for women who love sport and fitness are better than ever. Now is our time as Arab women to shine in the world of sport and fitness and reach new heights,” commented Al Nabhani.

At the event, Nike also launched the Women’s Only Nike+ Run Club, a weekly gathering every Monday for women of all fitness levels to get together and run as a group.

Nike+ Run Clubs are free of charge for all Nike+ members. Create your Nike+ account here to take part in the upcoming race.
