It’s that time of year again when the running community anticipates the most popular marathon in the region. The Dubai Marathon takes place this Friday January 22nd.

Under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai Marathon was launched in 2000 and has since grown to attract athletes from the region and beyond. This year, more than 30,000 people are expected to take part and race winners can look forward to prize money of upwards of US$ 200,000. Three race categories cater to all levels: the full marathon (42km) race; the 10km; and the 3km race, which is also open to children.
