Finding an excellent, qualified female trainer that will motivate and kick our bodies into shape is, at times, like finding a needle in a haystack. Enter the talented Taleen Khanoyan.
Certified by the International Sports Science Association (ISSA) for Personal Training (PT), this Los Angeles native of Armenian heritage has been living in Dubai for over a year, but has been training clients and designing nutrition plans for a decade. Her theory is simple: she believes in eating right, living a clean and healthy lifestyle, and that interval training is the most effective form of exercise. A typical session with Khanoyan would include weight training, Pilates, core strength, cardio, and plyometrics.
Here, we speak with Khanoyan about her favorite workouts, no-carb diets, and tempting cheat foods.
DANNIELLE BLAKER: What tops the list as your favorite workout right now?
TALEEN KHANOYAN: Barry’s Bootcamp (one hour of indoor boot camp, combining strength training and cardiovascular on the treadmill); every time I’m back in Los Angeles, I have to go to this high-intensity, calorie-burning, and no-mercy workout. It really is the best and it works. I’m also a huge fan of Physique 57; it’s the best for toning and truly lengthens your body.
Which fitness craze do you want to try?
Believe it or not, I’ve never tried Zumba. I like any workout that’s fun and allows you to dance and get wild, so I’m sure I would love that. I’ve only heard great things about it.
Who do you consider as one of your go-to fitness gurus?
I’m a fan of the Dubai-based trainer and founder of Elite Aesthetics, Ahmad Jaber, and generally any trainer who can inspire and motivate people. His training also shows results fast, which is key.
Favorite workout spots?
I love working out by myself at my private gym. I get “in the zone” and put my favorite playlist on with no distractions. It’s very therapeutic and relaxing for me.
