Ramadan is meant to refresh the soul and body, but in our region, more often than not we end up with a few extra pounds by the time Eid comes around. Fried food, especially at iftar, leaves us feeling bloated, while having a quick and unhealthy suhoor keeps us thirsty throughout the day. During the 15-hour-long, (very) hot fasts this year, it’s essential that we eat the right food items to stay hydrated and energized the whole month—and so that we don’t have to alter our Eid dress the last minute.
