In recent years, eyelash extensions have skyrocketed to popularity, with women determined to achieve thick, brow-grazing eyelashes. However, the lash-lengthening procedure isn’t without its risks. The glue used to apply the individual lashes contains a compound called formaldehyde, which can trigger severe allergic reactions and cause permanent hair loss. Now, a number of women are turning to a new, natural method to lengthen their lashes.

KERATIN EYELASH LIFT. WHAT IS IT?
I discovered the Keratin Eyelash Lift when I stumbled across these shocking before and after images during a late night Instagram scrolling session. Upon further investigation (read: Instagram creeping) I learned that the natural treatment can darken and lift lashes—without adding false ones.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
During a two-hour procedure, a licensed aesthetician uses keratin to lift natural lashes before infusing them with a tinted pigment. The resulting dark, supernaturally long lashes will last for up to 12 weeks before a touch up is required. It’s important to note that you won’t be able to get them wet or use any makeup products on them 48 hours following the treatment, which will cost you approximately US $150; 551 AED/SAR.

Los Angeles-based makeup artist and technician Elysee Zhadikpur receives clients from all over the world who are keen to undergo the must-have treatment, and Sonia Ali of SoniaxFyza is one of them. The London-based blogger took to Instagram to showcase her long, enviable eyelashes after paying the specialist a visit. Unfortunately, the sought-after procedure isn’t available in Dubai salons yet.
