Twice a year, we set our gaze on Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week to feast our eyes on the delightfully striking and equally avant-garde hair and makeup showcased on the runway. From lip-print appliqués at Maison Margiela, to whiteout brows at Schiaparelli, here are the six standout beauty looks from the Spring 2016 Haute Couture shows.
6 Standout Beauty Moments From Spring 2016 Haute Couture
VERSACE
Mega models of the moment—including Gigi Hadid, Irina Shayk, and Rosie Huntington-Whitely—donned greasy, gunmetal lids that extended into a sultry cat eye at Atelier Versace.
SCHIAPARELLI
At Schiaparelli, a bold swath of white was painted on the brows. Meanwhile, hairstylists used a crimping iron—the 80’s most sought-after hair tool—to crimp strands before sectioning them off into two fuzzy pigtails that sat atop the crown.
GIAMBATTISTA VALLI
Hair was slicked back into a voluminous, low pony secured at the nape of the neck and decorated with a black ribbon headband at Giambattista Valli.
CHRISTIAN DIOR
Models at Dior were sent down the runway with nude lips and black liner, but it was the electrifying red pouts sported by some of the models that turned heads.
DICE KAYEK
The cat-eye was ditched at Dice Kayek for a more graphic, pantomime look—a rim of black kohl that framed the eyes extended past the waterline.
MAISON MARGIELA
In true Margiela fashion, the Spring 2016 Couture show featured a cornucopia of out-of-this world looks. Inspired by the late David Bowie, models took to the runway in bold, glitter-coated violet lips, brightly colored mullets, graphic shapes outlining one eye and our favorite: the lip-print appliqué stamped face.
