Nail stamping is a relatively new technique that allows you to transfer pre-designed patterns and images onto your nails. It is extremely easy to do once you get the hang of it and all you need is a stamping plate (this has the designs engraved onto it), nail polish, a plastic card (to scrape excess polish from the plate), and a rubber stamper to transfer the nail polish from the engraved plate to your nails.
This short video from @viktorybor85 demonstrates nail stamping in all its glory.
To get started, Konad Nails offers some great kits, such as the Classic Collection II (US $99.99; AED/SAR 367), which includes five polishes, seven image plates, an image plate holder, one double-sided stamp, two scrapers, and a clear top coat.
Top Five Nail Stamping Tips:
1. Make sure that your base coat is completely dry before you try stamping.
2. Have all the utensils cleaned and ready to go before you begin because once you scrape, you will need to press the stamp onto the image right away.
3. When stamping the plate to pick up the image, always press straight down in one movement.
4. After picking up the design on your stamp, always check that you have the whole image and that there is no excess polish on the stamp.
5. Practice makes perfect. Don’t give up if it doesn’t work the first time—the more you practice, the faster you’ll improve the quality of the stamping.
