French pharmacy brand Nuxe has just launched a line of swanky sun care protection—Nuxe Sun—that’s set to take up residency in every sand trotting, beauty girl’s beach bag. A skincare brand that I associate with summer holidays, it is most famous for its Huile Prodigieuse, a multi-purpose dry oil to hydrate the skin, face, and hair.

Whether you are jetting off to a resort for a beach holiday, or are enjoying the Arabian sunshine this beach season, follow these safe sun care rules.

The Sun Care Rules by Isabelle Fazah, NUXE International Trainer

1. Prepare your skin
Twice a week, ideally for three weeks before your summer holiday, a full body exfoliation is recommended to remove dead skin cells.

2. Hydrate
Apply a nourishing moisturizer every day to reinforce the natural skin barrier, which can suffer under the strength of the UV rays.

3. Control the melanin
The melanin in your skin is what makes you appear tanned. You need SPF to control the production of melanin. If you don’t wish to tan, you need to be super disciplined about applying sun protection and using the right SPF is absolutely crucial.

4. Repetition
Reapply your sun protection every two hours to prevent your skin from burning. After swimming, you must dry your skin and reapply sun protection according to your photo type. Light skin tones need higher protection.

5. Watch the midday sun
To avoid too much exposure to the sun, you should avoid laying out during the hottest time of the day—between 12pm and 2pm. Instead, take a nap in the shade.

6. Hello H2O
Under the sun, your skin will suffer from dehydration and overheating. To ensure you stay hydrated from the inside out, drinking lots of water is recommended.
